Hey guys!! Well the first quarter of blogging is over, and as unhappy I was with the fact that I actually had to blog, I'm pleased with my grades!! Yay!! So here I am with another book for the second quarter. First things first, my first quarter blog. On my blog I was actually pretty nervous as to what the grading would be like for these things. To my surprise, I should of never felt that way. I got an A on the blog and the Animoto. I was so amazed and excited I almost couldn't contain it. I did have some grammar errors, like not capitalizing my I's. I'm sure I have a few of those in this blog already! There were a few things that I fell I could of put into the blog to give it more depth. For example I just went with the prompts. There was no creativity, just going by what the teacher told me to do. I hope that in this new quarter of blogging I can help you all see where I'm coming from with connections.
A few goals would be simple for me. One would be to check, check, and double check all spelling. I tend to type faster than my eyes can read and there are some grammar and spelling errors. My next goal is to put more thought and feeling into the blog. I hope this new book will allow me to connect easier. Finally, I would like to hopefully change my attitude about all of this blogging. Maybe it will help me type better blogs. Speaking of changing attitudes, my attitude is somewhat the same. I still don't really understand why we are blogging , I'm not catching the connection to the reading. Sometimes I feel as though this is just busy work, and other days I feel as though its a great project to do instead of having a lecture. I guess it will all take time to get used to. I don't think I can just change my mind in a matter of minutes!
This quarter I am reading Three Black Swans by: Caroline B. Cooney. I must say that I have not read as much of this book as I would like to, but I am trying to catch up. In my English class we are also reading the Scarlett Letter by: Nathaniel Hawthorne. So between reading my English homework and my blogging homework and keeping my grades up in six other classes, I'm exhausted. From what I have read this story is about two cousins. They are similar in appearance and totally different in personality. They come together to play a joke on one of their classes and tell them all that they are twins. What they don't know is that they actually are. Somehow the only people who know about it are their parents. They never spoke of it, but they knew. The story goes on to talk about how their lives will change and the struggles they will go through. I hope I can keep everything updated! Wish me luck!!
I do understand where you are coming from when it comes to comprhend what are purpose is to blogging. I do agree that it is better than writing a reading analysis or a research paper. Yes it is very important that you check for errors inside your blog, just because it makes the blog more professional than it appears. It is rather humorous that you had a error at the end of your post. It should be "Wish me luck" not "Wish my luck." You probably already made this change, but I want you to acheive success in your next blog. Everybody wants to have an A in the class right? Anyway, I can't wait to see what else you post this quarter about your book; it seems interesting.
ReplyDeleteHey Arielle!
ReplyDeleteMe and you are pretty much in the same boat. Floating down this crazy and rapid filled "6th hour English River"! I was too nervous about the blog grades but I guess it went well for the both of us. I saw that you had a problem with spelling and you of all people should know how bad I am at spelling but what I did before I turned in my paper was to highlight the whole paper and spellcheck every blog entry! I saw a lot of things I spelled wrong I would have never would have changed on my own. So just some helpful advice for you :) I wish you luck for this quater blogging!
Arielle! I absolutely love how you seem so happy in your blogs. They actually put a smile on my face when I read them. Last quarter we read the same book and you did a terrific job on the blog you deserved your A! I have the same problem with spelling that is something we are both going to have to watch this quarter. And yes I have seen you type and it is very fast indeed haha so just becareful and yes make sure you double check everything. You are going to have to keep me updated on how the book is. I want to read it next quarter. Simone also read it so you could ask her more about it and her insights on it and compare it to your own to help you write better blogs. Overall I think you are a good blogger and you make them interesting and actually make me want to read them. I know you are a creative person and I think you could have a lot of fun with blogging if you are really focused on it. Which I know is hard because we have so much other school work to do but I know that you can make it great! I am really looking forward to reading your blogs and just have fun with it!
ReplyDeleteArielle, I love your goals for this quarter and I agree with your opinions about blogging. I am not getting the connection either and its not helping me read my book or get connected with it. It is better then writing a research paper though! I like how you are determined to make your blog creative and fun, and I admire you for that because I understand how busy life is. Keep it up!
